March 2001: Amalgamation Compilation (Rice)

This is a solid indie compilation put out by Hot Tub Records and distributed by Sonic Unyon. Rice had recorded a bunch of songs in the summer of 2000 with drummer Ted Moore (who was borrowed from Vile Richard) and the track "Trafalmadoria" made it to the compilation. It's pretty quirky stuff, but absolutely representative of how Andrew's mind works -- right down to the kazoo solo.

August 2000: A Different Point of View (Rice)

Back when Rice was playing weekly gigs in Hamilton's Hess Village, Andrew answered an ad in the paper. This fellow Bruce Hotchkies was looking for bands to record some of his music. Andrew told us about the project and we tried covering two of Bruce's songs. When Bruce finally came out to hear us play his music in the stifling heat of a Hamilton summer night the only observation he offered was: "It's very Rice". Fair enough. We recorded "Crystal Lady" and "In the Mood for a Little Heartache" one evening in the summer of 1999 and Bruce put them both on the disc.
